シカゴハウスのパイオニア、ゴッドファーザー・オブ・ディープハウス、Mr.FingersことLarry Heardは、シカゴのサウスサイドで生まれ、両親のジャズやゴスペルのレコードコレクションから音楽に興味を示すようになる。ローカルバンドでドラムを演奏していたが、シンセサイザーに魅かれ、1984年からシンセサイザーとドラムマシンでの音楽制作を開始する。
1985年、Mr.Fingersとしてレコードデビュー。シカゴではハウスミュージックが全盛期を迎える中、1986年にリリースされた”Can You Feel It”は説明不要のハウスミュージック名曲として知られる。
1988年にリリースされたMr.Fingers名義でのファーストアルバム『Amnesia』と、Fingers Inc.（Larry Heard、Robert Owens、Ron Wilson)名義『Another Side』ではハウスミュージックの創造性を追求し、シカゴハウス最高峰アルバムとして評価された。Mr.Fingersセカンドアルバム『Introduction』は、クラブミュージックという枠を超え当時最もクロスオーヴァーしたアルバムとしてビルボードR＆Bチャート1位 (1992年)となった。
1994年、Larry Heard名義としてのファーストアルバム『Sceneries Not Songs, Volume One』をBlack Market Internationalよりリリースし、フュージョンやニューエイジをLarry流に昇華しチルアウトやダウンテンポに傾倒した作風によって、アンビエントハウスという言葉を産んだ。その後Larryは一旦シーンから引退を宣言し、コンピュータープログラミングの仕事に専念するためにメンフィスへ移る。
Track Mode主宰のBrett Dancerを筆頭に、アトランタのKai AlceやデトロイトのTheo Parrishらの功労によって、アンダーグランドなネットワークを通じてLarryは再度シーンと接触し、2001年にLarry Heard名義のアルバム『Love’s Arrival』のリリースを伴いシーンにカムバックする。
現在もメンフィスで活動し、Mr.Fingers名義での最新アルバム『Around The Sun Pt.1』(2022年)、『Around The Sun Pt.2』(2023年)を自身主宰のレーベルAlleviated Recordsからリリース。彼の過去の作品が数多く再発される近今、2011年以来13年振りの来日となる。

Larry Heard a.k.a Mr Fingers (Alleviated Records & Music)
Chicago house pioneer and Godfather of Deep House, Larry Heard aka Mr Fingers, was born on Chicago’s South Side, where his parents’ jazz and gospel record collection sparked his interest in music. He played drums in a local band, but became fascinated by synthesisers and started making music on synthesisers and drum machines in 1984.
In 1985, he made his record debut as Mr Fingers. With house music at its height in Chicago, ‘Can You Feel It’, released in 1986, is a house classic that needs no explanation.
His first album under the name Mr Fingers, Amnesia, was released in 1988, followed by Another Side under Fingers Inc (Larry Heard, Robert Owens and Ron Wilson), which explored the creative possibilities of house music and was hailed as Chicago’s best house album. Mr Fingers’ second album, Introduction, transcended the boundaries of club music to become the most crossover album of its time, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B charts (1992).
In 1994, his first album under the name Larry Heard, Sceneries Not Songs, Volume One, was released on the Black Market International label and was a sublimation of fusion and new age music in Larry’s style, leaning towards chill-out and downtempo. His style of sublimating fusion and new age into chill-out and downtempo gave birth to the term ‘ambient house’. Larry then announced his retirement from the scene and moved to Memphis to concentrate on his computer programming work.
Through an underground network led by Track Mode’s Brett Dancer and with the help of Atlanta’s Kai Alce and Detroit’s Theo Parrish, Larry re-established contact with the scene and in 2001 released an album under the name Larry Heard entitled He made a comeback to the scene with the release of Love’s Arrival.
Still active in Memphis, he released his latest albums under the name Mr Fingers, Around The Sun Pt.1 (2022) and Around The Sun Pt.2 (2023), on his own label, Alleviated Records. This will be his first visit to Japan in 13 years, since 2011, at a time when many of his past works are being re-released.

８０年中期 クラブより 活動し、P.Picasoでレアグルーブのレギュラーパーティー Familyという レギュラーパーティー等の参加、８９年芝浦のGOLDのオープンより 2階 3階 5階の レギュラーを勤め その後 渋谷CAVE 麻布ENDMAX等のレギュラープレイ 90年代後半には ミックスCDを リリース ハウススタイルを追求し続ける Original Tokyo DJである。 90’s NYのリアルクラブプレイを信条とし常に最先端の音を追い求めて早半世紀。現在も続く。

DJ IZU
Active since the mid-1980s in clubs, he participated in regular parties at P.Picaso, Rare Groove’s regular party, Family, etc., and has been a regular on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th floors since the opening of GOLD in Shibaura in 1989. In the late 90’s, he released a mix CD and is an original Tokyo DJ who continues to pursue the house style. He has always pursued the cutting-edge sound for half a century with 90’s NY’s real club play as his creed. He continues to do so even now.
